What is your favorite thing about hunting or fishing?

My favorite thing about hunting and fishing is being out in nature and enjoying the freedom it brings. 

What was your best day in the field hunting or fishing?

My very best day in the field came on Halloween​ ​2017. I​ ​told​ ​my​ ​girlfriend​ ​i​ ​was​ ​going​ ​hunting​ ​instead​ ​of​ ​taking​ the ​kids​ ​trick or​ ​treating.​ She​ ​asked​ "​why would I skip trick or treating​​?" I confidently said "because I'm going to shoot a monster." Sure enough I harvested my biggest buck to date with a
bow and arrow. 

Tell us about how you started in the outdoors, and why do you maintain the lifestyle... 

It ​all​ ​started​ ​with​ ​one of my Dad's good friends, Gene Watterson. He was kind enough to take​ ​me out​ ​hunting with him​ ​when I was young.​ ​Gene loaned ​me​ ​a gun​ ​and​ ​provided​ ​me​ ​with​ ​land​ ​to​ ​hunt, he​ ​even​ ​set​ ​us​ ​up​ ​and​ ​made​ ​sure​ ​we​ ​were ready​ ​and​ ​safe.​ ​I​ ​never​ ​succeeded​ ​when I was young, but the passion was born as I tried and tried.​ ​Gene​ ​passed away​ ​and​ ​left​ ​me​ with ​permission​ ​to​ ​hunt​ ​his​ ​land​. ​Shortly after he passed, my success began and I started harvesting ​deer​ ​year after ​year. Since then I've learned the practice of land and herd management, and I've applied that knowledge on the land Gene left me to hunt. I absolutely love​ ​this​ ​lifestyle,​ ​it​ ​keeps me​ ​​active​ ​and​ ​busy​, and reminds me of how thankful I am to Gene. I ​hope​ ​to​ ​pass my​ ​knowledge​ ​down​ ​to​ ​my​ ​kids​ ​as​ ​Gene​ ​did​ ​to​ ​me. Hopefully next year, I'll get a chance at another big buck!

What is your favorite thing about hunting or fishing?

My favorite thing about hunting and fishing is the chase and 
the feeling when I have success. I love continuing to learn 
new things every time I go out, and it's great to make new 
friends who are also outdoorsmen. 

What was your best day in the field hunting or fishing?

I appreciate any day on the water, but who doesn’t like to tell a story of their fondest memories? When I was a teenager I was fishing in a small river located just a few miles from my house. I had fished this river for all my life, but this day was exceptionally different. It was a cloudy day and I was wading, something in the air just felt right. On the first cast I reeled in a 3lb smallmouth bass, then another, and another. I caught over a dozen May spawning smallies that day. To make the day even more special, my Father was with me, and together we caught a ton!  The biggest weighing in at 4½lbs. We had a blast and I wouldn’t trade those memories for anything. The best thing about being an outdoorsman isn’t killing huge bucks or catching lots of fish, it’s the memories you are left with. 

Tell us about how you started in the outdoors, and why do you maintain the lifestyle... 

I’ve been hunting and fishing for as long as I can remember. I shot at my first buck with a .410 when I was 5 years old, and I’ve continued to live my life with a passion for the outdoors. My father is an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper and he has passed on the lifestyle to me. He has been a huge influence in my life and has helped me immensely by passing on his knowledge. The rush from hunting and fishing combined with a satisfaction of success is what drives me to continue my passion for the outdoors today. I can assure you I wouldn’t be successful in my everyday life without hunting and fishing.

What is your favorite thing about hunting or fishing?

My favorite thing about hunting and fishing are the memories made. I love introducing youth to the outdoors. I also really enjoy hunting 
and fishing with my kids specifically. 

What was your best day in the field hunting or fishing?

My best day in the field was actually my first goose hunt with my son, my best friend, and our bird dog Goose. We worked hard to train Goose, and he got his first successful retrieve that day. Even more importantly, my son shot his very first Goose the same day. 

Tell us about how you started in the outdoors, and why do you maintain the lifestyle... 

When I was just 8 years old I shot my very first deer, and I've been a die-hard hunter ever since. Sometime after that I started running a trap line with one of my Dad's good friends, which led me to eventually running my own coon hounds. I followed a natural progression of deer hunting, to trapping, and now waterfowl hunting. I was addicted to waterfowl hunting from the first time I tried it. I maintain the lifestyle because there is nothing better than making memories with my kids and other sportsmen.

What is your favorite thing about hunting or fishing?

My favorite thing about hunting is striving to be become a 
better hunter and learning more and more every day.  There is just something about sitting 15' in a tree just clearing my head and enjoying nature, it’s in my blood! I love 
enjoying God's creation and looking at a beautiful view.

My favorite thing about fishing is being with friends and 
family and learning new things. I love that it brings people 
together. I enjoy teaching other people the fun of catching 
fish, and I even more enjoy watching them have a new 
experiences from what they've learned. I just love relaxing 
and seeing my pole dip down!

What was your best day in the field hunting or fishing?

My best day in the field was actually my very first bow kill! It was Halloween morning, I decided to stay and sit all day. I saw a lot of deer activity but I just could not pull a buck down to me. Trying not to move a muscle, but shaking from being in the stand all day, finally I saw a nice 8 point buck on the hill that had so much activity in the morning. I grabbed my grunt tube, and called at him. He headed my way and got within about 20 yards. I focused my first pin right behind his shoulder. I could hear myself breathing and felt my heart beat faster. I slowly squeezed the trigger on my release and let my arrow fly. I waited patiently for any sign that he was down, after about 30 minutes I heard a crash in the brush. I got down and found him not 30 yards from where I shot him. This was a great learning experience which told me that it can happen anytime from sunrise until dark! 

Tell us about how you started in the outdoors, and why do you maintain the lifestyle... 

I started in the outdoors when I was about 4 years old. My Dad would take me out on the boat with him. Usually I would fish for about 30 minutes, then I'd lay down on the floor while dad caught the fish. I'd take the fish out of the livewell and play with them, I also spent plenty of time cutting up Dad's night crawlers! 

During hunting season I would always go with him to drag out deer or we'd go check cameras. We did a lot of spotlighting from the truck too. At around 7 years old I had learned just enough to know a little, and he took me to do Hunters Education. I finished Hunters Ed and started hunting that very season. During the Youth Season of my first year hunting I killed my first doe. Also around that time I started fishing pretty hard with Dad. We fished tournaments and I eventually caught my first walleye, a 29'' hog at around 9lbs. 

It's great moments like those with my father that have led me to continue in the outdoors. It made us grow together, I loved and wanted to be like him. It creates a better connection with people, it's something that only sportsmen can understand. Some day my son will be raised just like my father raised me. Why do I hunt, fish, and maintained that sort of lifestyle, the answer is because I'm HOOKED!

What is your favorite thing about hunting or fishing?

My favorite thing about hunting and fishing is spending time with friends and family, and enjoying God's creation.

What was your best day in the field hunting or fishing?

My best days in field was fishing up on Lake Erie. I got to spend time on the water with my Grandfather and Uncle, which made the day on its own. However, I also caught my biggest walleye to date that day, it was a 27" pig. 

Tell us about how you started in the outdoors, and why do you maintain the lifestyle... 

I got started in the outdoors fishing with my Grandfather and Dad. I started deer hunting when I was in my teens. It didn't take long to learn that late October and early November is my favorite time to be in the woods. I maintain the lifestyle today because it provides food for my family, and I earn a great sense of accomplishment by donating part of my harvest's to people in need. I also hope one day I can pass my knowledge down to my son, and maybe he will enjoy it as much as I do.

What is your favorite thing about hunting or fishing?

It is my release from everyday life. I have been through a lot in my lifetime, and when I’m on the water or in the woods I don’t have a care in the world. The outdoors is my passion.

What was your best day in the field hunting or fishing?

My best time in the field would have been my first turkey hunt with my dad. I’d been watching turkey hunting shows on TV, and I thought that was something I might enjoy. Soon after, I asked my Dad to teach me how to turkey hunt. The first morning out we were surrounded by turkeys, and I was lucky enough to take a jake. He was a small bird, but I was only 14, and I couldn’t have been happier harvesting one on my first hunt. To this day that has been the most memorable hunt I've had.

Tell us about how you started in the outdoors, and why do you maintain the lifestyle... 

I have been in the outdoors since I could walk. My dad and grandpa got me started on hunting and fishing. From deer and turkey hunting to walleye and crappie fishing, they have taught me everything I know. I maintain the outdoor lifestyle because it is my passion. It takes away all of my worries and problems. I lost my sister in a car accident in 2013 and I lost the vision in my left eye. If it weren’t for the outdoors to help me with my worries, who knows where I would be.
