What is your favorite thing about hunting and fishing?

Spending time outdoors with family and friends.

What was your best day in the field hunting or fishing?

The best day I have had in the field would be the day I harvested my first deer. For the longest time I hunted with my Dad, but this season was the first season he started putting me in the woods by myself, I had not harvested a deer yet with our without him. Well him and Mom were leaving to go on vacation sometime in the evening on October 2nd, which in Indiana is the 2nd day of bow season.  I told Dad that I would probably get my first one when he left for vacation..... As luck would have it, the very next evening of October 3 my cousin and I set out on our family farm. We came to my cousins stand first as we walked in, I told him good luck, and I was on my way.  After about a 12 minute hike, I arrived to my stand, I put my bow on the rope and I headed up the tree.  I got about half way up and could hear something up on top of the hill behind my tree. I get about two more steps up which made it high enough that I could see over the hill.  I gave it a good scan, and sure enough I spot 3 does heading straight towards me. Trying to contain my excitement, and with shaky hands I pull my bow up the tree very slowly while hoping that the does wont see and bust me.  After what seemed like a decade, I got my bow up, knocked and arrow, and waited as all 3 does were still headed my way. They all came down the hill and right up the trail I was hunting at about 15 yards from my stand. Once they made it to my shooting lane I picked out the biggest one, I pulled back, and took my shot. In all of the excitement I jumped down out of my stand, grabbed my bloody arrow, and started running through the woods yelling to my cousin I GOT ONE! I GOT ONE!

Tell us about how you started in the outdoors, and why do you maintain the lifestyle...

I stated hunting and fishing with my Dad at a very young age. Before I was old enough to hunt on my own I wouldn't let dad out of the house to hunt or fish unless I was right there next to him! As I got older I got to start hunting and fishing with buddy's, and my love for the outdoors just grow from there. I'm out about all year round doing something in the outdoors whether that is fishing, mushroom hunting, turkey hunting, deer hunting, predator hunting, or ice fishing!  Not matter what the season, you can find me outdoors.

GrowingDeer.TV - May 20, 2016

Each week Dr. Grant Woods and crew put out a 10-15 minute video called  GrowingDeer.TV.  The videos are all about land management, herd management, hunting, predator control, trapping, and all other aspects of managing deer land. Constantly I hear other hunters say that they wish hunting shows would actually teach us something, if that's you, or if you're just as obsessed as I am, then GrowingDeer.TV is for you.
